Together with South Pole, autoSense enables users to offset their effective CO2 emissions. Users have two projects to choose from: The Swiss Iso-Biogas Project and the Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve in Borneo. Both projects aim not only to contribute to climate, species and resource protection, but also to help local people: through new economic prospects, better living conditions, clean water or access to educational opportunities.
Project 1: Swiss Iso-Biogas
Swiss farms generate large amounts of organic waste. When these materials are stored in open containers, harmful greenhouse gases such as methane, carbon dioxide, and nitrous oxide are released into the atmosphere. By installing a biogas plant, farmers can use methane to generate renewable electricity. A total of 11 biogas plants participate in this program, reducing fossil fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Farmers can also reduce their energy costs and thus contribute to a sustainable energy supply in Switzerland.
Project 2: Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve
The Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve in Borneo protects 91,215 hectares of species-rich tropical peat swamp forests, which are monitored by local rangers and using satellite and aerial images. The reserve borders the world-famous Tanjung Puting National Park and forms a buffer zone along the park's eastern border. The project not only protects the diversity of ecosystems and the habitat of endangered species such as the orangutan in Borneo, but also reduces emissions by preventing the planned deforestation of over 47,000 hectares of forest for palm oil production.
